Te Awa Reserve Play Areas

Last year we spoke with residents, schools and Mana Whenua to gather their ideas for a new play area ground at Te Awa Reserve. We appreciate all the feedback received and this has helped shape the next steps forward.

While we heard some concerns, overall we received strong support from 70% of residents and stakeholders in favour of developing the reserve and pathways in a natural way for families to enjoy.

Additionally, over the past two years council has been planting around the stormwater detention pond to create a feeling of a natural wetland. We will continue with native plantings over the next two to three years to complete the landscaping.

Our goal is to maintain the beauty of the wetland, while providing families and whanau a place they can explore together.

With this in mind, we have developed two options for a play area at the reserve. Take a look at the maps (click on each map option to zoom in) and then tell us your preferred option by completing the form below by Friday 19 April.

Want to learn more? Then join us at Te Awa Reserve, Waimakariri Drive on Sunday 31 March, 1.30-2.30pm (Postponement date if bad weather is Sunday 7 April, 1.30-2.30pm).
