Marine Parade Traffic Calming

In late 2017, the section of Marine Parade between Vautier Street and the Napier  i-Site opened with a new layout. This included a parking precinct on the CBD side, the shifting of all through-traffic onto the seaward side of the planted median, improved parking outside the i-SITE, and additional pedestrian crossing points.

This was the first of a number of changes that are intended to:

•    Improve connectivity between the city and waterfront
•    Slow vehicles
•    Reduce the number of heavy vehicles, and
•    Improve amenity while retaining as many car parks as possible.

To measure the success of these changes, we immediately followed up with an online survey and captured traffic movement data.

Now that these changes have been in place a while, we are once again capturing information that will show us what is working and what isn’t. So far, this has included interviews, traffic counts, observational surveys, and pedestrian tracking. To provide the final piece of information, we would like to invite you to tell us what you think by completing a brief online survey.

The information we collect will help us make decisions for the future of this iconic waterfront boulevard.

Please complete the survey before Friday 5 April, 5pm.
